Haringey London Borough - Tottenham Central Ward

Description

Today, after walking my children to school, my daughter was nearly involved in an accident.

This has prompted me to escalate my concerns to the council for the lack of a safe road crossing at the Philip lane/Tottenham high road junction in Harringay.

1. There is no traffic light with green man walk signal on the road between the old water well and dominoes pizza. It is not safe for children to cross in an area where there are a lot of primary schools and nurseries. This is an area of high footfall; I have seen over the years many pedestrians having to run to cross this road as they have been caught off guard due to no visibility of when lights have turned red or green. For me as a cautious mother who is very weary of this road, I myself was caught off guard which nearly resulted in my daughter having an accident.

2. From a driver’s perspective, it is also not safe for a vehicle to make a right-hand turn onto Philip Lane as there is no green light to signal it is ok for the drivers to turn into the road. Drivers have no visibility when the oncoming traffic on the other side of the road has moved from red to green and are just chancing a turn.

Please can you investigate the safety on this road and at the very least install a traffic light with green man walk signal to drastically improve the safety on this road and avoid any future accidents, injuries or death.
I logged this on Street cleaning because there is no tab for ASB I live opposite the bus stop of the paddock (Blue dot) a few years back I walked in the paddock with a friend on a sunny Sunday afternoon, when we walked into an area and saw 2 men having sex across the picnic tables and a 3rd man stood there watching. As you can imagine I was disgusted and furious and screamed at them saying families walk in here. They quickly pulled up their pants and left sharply.
Since then I have noticed that this is still happening on a daily basis, my neighbour who is also a gay man confirmed that men are arranging to meet people in the paddock on grinder (GAY networking app).
They tend to sit at the bus stop whilst texting, they wait until the contact arrives, and one follows the other into the paddock not emerging again for about 30 mins / 1hr.
I have previously reported this to the Police but there doesn't seem to be any incentive to address this.
I have also attended neighbourhood meeting with the local CSU but still nothing has changed.
last night at around 2am two men walked out of the paddock together , which I can only assume what they were up to at that time in the early hours of the morning.
This has significant got worse since the paddock is no longer locked up at night.
If you want to discuss this further with me, you can reach me on Teams as I am a staff member of Haringey Council.
